"Beyrut is Burning"
In 2006, a month-long war on Lebanese soil between the Israeli army and Hezbolla sparked the beginning of this story I lived during this time just North of Beirut. Under the blackened, smoky sky, I sat day by day writing poetry. That poetry scripted this story, which delves into the long and ancient history of the land of Liban (Lebanon) and brings 5 characters to life. These ficticious characters, juxstaposed, explore themes of power, loss, tribal movement in the Middle East and the exceptional strength gained through protecting that which we love.
