"Beyrut is Burning"

In 2006, a month-long war on Lebanese soil between the Israeli army and Hezbolla sparked the beginning of this story I lived during this time just North of Beirut. Under the blackened, smoky sky, I sat day by day writing poetry. That poetry scripted this story, which delves into the long and ancient history of the land of Liban (Lebanon) and brings 5 characters to life. These ficticious characters, juxstaposed, explore themes of power, loss, tribal movement in the Middle East and the exceptional strength gained through protecting that which we love. "What drives ten thousand armies, but believing in something?"...
